On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, St Rocco Church in Cleveland, Ohio, offered a Solemn Requiem Mass for the late, retired pontiff, Pope Benedict XVI. Pope Benedict died on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2022. In supreme, solemn and glorious form, the Requiem Mass for the late pontiff was once of his own favorite pieces of music: Mozart’s infamous Requiem in D Minor. Providing this haunting and fitting musical setting were none other than the St Rocco Choir and members of the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus.
